Giancarlo Succi holds a Laurea Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Genova, an M.Sc. in Computer Science at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a PhD in Computer and Electrical Engineering at the University of Genoa.

He completed a habilitation as a professional engineer both in Italy and in Canada, and has consulted several organizations worldwide. Before joining Innopolis University, he has been a professor at the University of Trento (Italy), University of Calgary (Canada), University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada), and Free University of Bolzano/Bozen (Italy), as well as was holding a number of administrative positions at above mentioned institutions.
