Center for Geographic Information Systems

The Center performs research and develops services related to intelligent geographic information systems. Its team implements projects in infrastructure design, urban and regional planning, and natural resources utilization analysis, using artificial intelligence and advanced data acquisition technologies. These include earth remote sensing, geodetic techniques, and aerial and sattelite surveys using cartographic information that underlies building digital models.

ACTIVITY OF THE CENTER

Developing departmental and regional decision support systems based on a cloud geoinformation 4D platform for agriculture, forestry, construction, transport, and housing and utility sector, as well as creating digital city models and preparing digital spatial data for geoinformation systems.

Artificial intelligence techniques, such as computer vision or machine learning, are used to automate the process of recognizing and classifying objects on initial aerial and satellite images

Developing the Digital Urban Model that allows the shared use of information and communications technologies and the internet of things. Using sensors and sensor networks allows monitoring in the real time mode

Engineering processes related to creating 3D models of objects, based on original aerial and satellite images, digital maps, orthophotomaps, and digital surface and terrain models

Interpretation or recognition of objects and phenomena, based on the Earth remote sensing data (classifying forest types, agricultural crops, and buildings, as well as detecting forest alterations, infringements of protected areas, etc., by their typical characteristics), aimed at solving a specific problem of users
